ASHS is the certifying body for the Certified Professional Horticulturist ranking. That level of professional attainment requires a unique blend of academic study, practice and community and marketplace interaction. Not everyone needs a CPH, but what they do need is a horticulturally competent staff.
To this end, ASHS also sponsors the Certified Horticulturist program which is a personal horticulture skills certification program. As opposed to the CPH certification, the CH certification does not require formal class training, Rather it is focused on a person's experience in horticulture operations. The program assures employers that the holder of a CH ticket meets certain minimum standards of horticultural skill that is directly applicable to any growing operation. The Cannabis industry needs to build it's basic skill level and when trying to highlight the "health" of your operation, you can do worse than being able to say you have one, or two CH's on staff... who meet the requirements laid out by a respected 100 year old American Institution.
Beyond the basic skill classes we offer, attaining the CH certification is a next level for your workers. Workers, the CH is a useful resume builder and it is not Cannabis specific .. so if the Cannabis industry falters, or you want to branch out beyond Cannabis, this certification is well worth your investment.
Watch our website for the date of the next annual CH Certification test. Otoké is working with ASHS to bring a testing session to Denver to serve the Cannabis industry. The testing is usually held early each year. We are also preparing a CH certification prep class to be held starting this fall. CH Test Study guides are also available for about $50 from us, or direct from ASHS.
Kerrie is currently serving a 3 year volunteer effort with the CH program oversight board and participated in the development of the CH exam questions several years ago. So if you want to up your chances on passing, let the expert show you the way.
